歩みを振り返り、自分自身を少しだけ褒めてあげる
今年の23周年記念パーティーは、私にとって本当に特別な時間となりました。
例年であれば、会社の食事会を開くだけなのですが、今年はリバイタラッシュ コスメティクス20周年という大きな節目でもあったため、MRiの周年もあわせて、いつもより少し大きなお祝いの会にしました。
あの夜、長年この歩みを共にしてくださった友人やビジネスパートナー、ドクターの皆様、そして多くの仲間たちに囲まれながら会場を見渡していたとき、ふと思いました。
月日の流れは、本当に早いものだと。
10年が20年になり、20年が23年になる。そして気がつけば、25周年もすぐそこまで来ています。
私たちはいつも次の目標に向かって歩き続けているため、これまで積み重ねてきたことを、ゆっくり振り返る時間は意外と少ないものです。
だから今回は、少し立ち止まってみることにしました。
そして今日は、ほんの少しだけ、自分自身を褒めてあげようと思います。
これまで私は、日本の皆様の健康やQOL（クオリティ・オブ・ライフ）の向上につながると心から信じられる製品や考え方をご紹介してきました。
MRi創設の前にはネオメディックでスキン・シューティカルズの安定型ビタミンC美容液を日本へ初めて導入しました。
そして2003年にはMRiを立ち上げ、ナチュラル・バイオアイデンティカルホルモン療法をご紹介しました。
さらに、世界初のミネラルメイクブランドであるジェーン・アイルデールを、日本総代理店として日本にご紹介しました。
その後、まつ毛美容液という新しいカテゴリーを築いたリバイタラッシュ コスメティクスとも出会いました。
23年間、信念を大切に歩んできました。
それは、私が取り扱うすべてのブランドやプログラムを心から信じているからです。
Dr. Neal Rouzierが提唱する、エビデンスに基づいたホルモン療法。
科学的根拠に裏付けられ、安全性が確認され、本当に結果をもたらす革新的な製品。
そうした考え方に共感し続けてきたことが、最終的には、私自身のブランド ninoBEAUTY by Rikki L. を立ち上げることにもつながりました。
アメリカ人として日本でビジネスを続けることは、決して簡単なことではありませんでした。
日本語も決して完璧ではなく、そのことを不利に感じる場面もたくさんありました。
それでも、自分に足りないものを気にするより、自分の強みを信じることを選びました。
情報を徹底的に調べること。
本当に価値のあるものを見極めること。
そして、最高の人や最高の製品と出会うこと。
それが、私の強みだったのです。
MRiは、もともとはコンサルティング会社としてスタートしました。
しかし、ジェーン・アイルデールと出会ったことで、その方向は大きく変わりました。
ブランドを日本でどのように育てていくかについて約束を交わす中で、その約束を誰かに任せるのではなく、自分自身で実現できる会社を作らなければならないと感じたのです。
ホルモン療法についても同じでした。
Dr. Rouzierの教育システムを日本で構築し、さらにバイオアイデンティカルホルモンやサプリメントの輸入、そして患者様一人一人に必要な承認手続きを行える人は、当時ほとんどいませんでした。
だからこそMRiは、研究・コンサルティング会社から、医師への教育、革新的な製品の紹介、輸入、販売、そしてサポートまでを行う会社へと成長していったのです。
もちろん、そのすべてを一人で成し遂げたわけではありません。
私はこれまで、世界中で本当に素晴らしい方々と出会うことができました。
高い専門性を持ちながら誠実さも兼ね備え、人々の人生をより良くしたいという強い想いを持った方々です。

今回の周年記念は、決してゴールではありません。
むしろ「これからも歩みは続いていく」ということを、改めて実感する機会となりました。
そして今、私の中には、さらに大きなビジョンが生まれています。
ウェルネス、予防医学、そして科学の力を通して、より多くの方が、健康で、より長く、そしてより美しく人生を楽しめるようお手伝いしていきたい。
そんな未来を思い描いています。
本当に素晴らしいチャプターは、これから始まるのかもしれません。
Looking Back… and Giving Myself a Little Credit
This year's anniversary celebration was truly special.
Normally, I would simply host a company dinner, but because we were also celebrating the 20th Anniversary of RevitaLash Cosmetics, I decided to make it a larger celebration that included MRi's 23rd Anniversary as well. Looking around the room that evening, surrounded by friends, business partners, doctors, and colleagues who have been part of this journey, I realized something.
Years have a way of slipping by.
Ten years become twenty. Twenty become twenty-three. Before you know it, twenty-five years are just around the corner. We spend so much time looking ahead that we rarely stop to appreciate what has already been accomplished.
For once, I decided to do just that.
So today, I'm giving myself a little pat on the back.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of introducing many innovations to Japan that I genuinely believed could improve people's health and quality of life.
I introduced Natural Bio-identical Hormone Therapy through the launch of MRi in 2003. Before that, while at Neo Medic, I introduced SkinCeuticals and the first stable Vitamin C serum to Japan. I brought jane iredale—the world's first mineral makeup—and the first mineral makeup line to Japan as Jane Iredale cosmetics Japan distributor. Later came RevitaLash Cosmetics, the pioneer of eyelash conditioners that transformed the industry.
For the past 23 years, I have continued this mission because I believe in every brand and every program I represent. I believe in Dr. Neal Rouzier's evidence-based approach to hormone therapy. I believe in innovative products that are backed by science, proven for safety, and deliver real results. That same philosophy ultimately inspired me to create my own brand, ninoBeauty by Rikki L.
Being an American doing business in Japan has certainly not been easy. My Japanese has never been perfect, and I have often felt that disadvantage. But rather than focus on what I lacked, I chose to rely on my strengths—the ability to research, to recognize exceptional ideas, and to find the very best people and products.
MRi actually began as a consulting company. But after meeting Jane Iredale, everything changed. During our discussions, I made promises about how her brand would be introduced and cared for in Japan. I realized I couldn't simply hand those promises to someone else. I had to build the company that could fulfill them myself.
The same was true with hormone therapy. There was no one else who could assemble Dr. Rouzier's educational system while navigating the complexities of importing bio-identical hormones and nutritional supplements into Japan and working through the approval process for every individual order.
So MRi evolved from a research and consulting company into an organization that educates physicians, promotes innovation, imports, distributes, and supports products that truly make a difference.
None of this could have happened alone.
I have been fortunate to work with remarkable people around the world whose integrity matches their expertise. People who care deeply about improving lives.

Perhaps the best chapter is still waiting to be written.
